Should I provide food all year round?

Whilst providing food at all times of year isn't necessary, doing so can ensure that birds don't go hungry. Furthermore, birds have different priorities depending on the season. In the winter, they require extra energy to keep themselves warm, while fledglings require protein in the spring/summer months. Bird feeders may be less busy over the summer months due to abundant natural food sources, but this is not to say that supplementary food wouldn't be welcomed.
