How much food do I put out?

Why are the nuts served in their shells?
Nuts in shells serve two main purposes: they satisfy a squirrel’s natural instinct to gnaw, which helps keep their constantly growing teeth at a healthy length, and they encourage natural foraging behaviours like burying and storing food for colder months.
How do I teach squirrels to use a lid-covered feeder?
When introducing a new feeder, prop the lid open slightly with a small stick so they can easily smell and see the food. Once they get used to feeding there, remove the stick - squirrels are clever and will quickly learn to lift the lid.
