Straight Wildlife Foods

Straight wildlife foods are exactly that - pure, unblended and unadulterated by fillers or additives of any kind. Our responsibly sourced straight foods can be served exactly as they come in hanging feeders (peanuts in a steel-mesh feeder) from 1 November to 30 April.

They're also a great complement to other foods, mixed in with your usual offerings to tempt more species that may have particular preferences.

Your questions answered

They’re single foods with no fillers or additives: sunflower hearts, black sunflower seeds, niger seed, peanuts and peanut granules.

Feed seed and peanuts from 1 November to 30 April.

Serve sunflower hearts and black sunflower in a seed feeder, and niger in a niger feeder. Only ever offer peanuts in a steel-mesh peanut feeder, never loose, so birds can’t carry whole nuts back to their chicks. Peanut granules can go in a peanut feeder or be mixed into a seed blend in a seed feeder. Don’t scatter these foods on tables, trays or the ground.

Every batch is tested to make sure it’s free from harmful aflatoxins. Store them dry and throw away any that look mouldy.

Goldfinches love niger seed and sunflower hearts. Tits, greenfinches and sparrows go for sunflower. Tits, nuthatches and woodpeckers take peanuts.
