Often the subject of much debate, hungry squirrels can be a controversial visitor in most gardens. Whether they’re regarded as a welcome source of amusement, or an unwelcome intruder, their habit of stealing bird food and tampering with feeders is undoubtedly a nuisance that cannot be ignored. Employing various tricks to try and access the hard-to-reach bird food, they often leave a trail of destruction in their wake, damaging bird feeders in the process. Why not capture their attention and tempt them away from bird feeders with their own supply of food? Not only will this help discourage them from causing further damage to your feeders, but it will ensure your investment in quality bird food isn’t wasted. Giving squirrels their own food helps tempt them away from bird feeders. It also lets you enjoy watching them.

Squirrels lift the hinged lid to get at the food inside, which is fun to watch and keeps the food dry. Fix it to a tree or fence at a height squirrels can reach easily.

Use Vale's™ Squirrel Food or peanuts. Use only peanuts tested for aflatoxins, and throw away any that look mouldy.

Put it well away from your bird feeders, so squirrels have a reason to stay at their own feeder.

Empty out old food and wash it with hot soapy water once a week, then let it dry before refilling.
