Living with Birds Bird Feeders For Small Birds

Bird Feeders For Small Birds

Our feeders for small birds have been developed to create a safe and comfortable environment that ensures even the smallest of species will feel at ease whilst feeding in your garden. Choose from a variety of options, such as tubular feeders designed with smaller perches that make it difficult for larger birds to land and feed. Alternatively, consider a caged feeder which only allows smaller birds to enter, whilst also providing protection from possible predators. A low-hanging dome shelter is also a perfect feeder for attracting smaller birds like robins, tits, and song thrushes, whilst restricting larger birds like pigeons and crows via the adjustable roof.

Little Lantern™ and My Favourites™ are made for small birds that cling, such as blue tits and goldfinches. The Bird Lovers™ Seed Feeder and Flutter Butter® Feeder suit tits and finches, and the I Love Robins® feeders and dishes suit robins.

Use sunflower hearts or a fine seed blend in seed feeders, and Flutter Butter® in its feeder. Seed is fed from 1 November to 30 April. Flutter Butter® is suitable all year round (the RSPB recommends it as a safe summer food). Use the I Love Robins® dishes and Treat Tray for mealworms only.

Hang them about two metres from a shrub or hedge, so small birds can dash to cover from sparrowhawks and cats.

Clean your feeders once a week. Tip out old food, wash every part in hot soapy water or a bird-safe disinfectant, then rinse and let it dry before refilling. Weekly cleaning helps stop the spread of trichomonosis, a disease that passes quickly between finches at shared feeders.
